...And let it begin with me |
Let There Be Peace on
Earth…
If you ask
most people what they want from life, somewhere on their list of things you’ll find the
word peace. For most people, it’s only a word. Peace doesn’t just
happen, you have to work for it and then you have to work to keep it.
Each day I
try to set the tone for peace in my life, home, community and the world. I
believe, and I think I’m right, that collectively, we all can create the peace we
need to have. So I’m inviting you to join me on a little experiment.
Today, make
the decision live with peace, joy and love on your mind and in your heart.
Think and dream of a life you’d like to experience. Imagine yourself relaxed
and in control of the environment around you.
Do you
desire chaos and calamity or do you seek peace and fulfillment?
As you think
about this today and this evening, use words and tones that bring life. Eat
foods and drink beverages that make your light shine brighter. Avoid toxins and
things that diminish your capacity to be and do all that you desire. Speak truth,
love and kindness. Seek wisdom. Smile at every child you see and help someone
who is in need.
Today, buy
only what you need and eat what is good for you. Don’t listen to or spread
gossip, and don’t justify it by saying “But this really is true.” If you can’t
say something nice say nothing and go read a book.
Smile for no
reason, laugh and dance the same way. Teach something that you have learned and
encourage a young person to teach you something that you don’t know.
Reset your
thinking to reflect the truth your heart already knows; that might is not right
and love conquers all.
Peace does
not just happen; we have to work at it and work at it and work at it.
Tomorrow when you wake
up, give thanks for having played a part in making the world more peaceful.
Be you, be well, be
Peace,
Bertice Berry, PhD.
